Rotary is a service organization of business and professional leaders united worldwide and locally who provide humanitarian service, promote high ethical standards in all vocation, and help build goodwill and peace around the world. There are approximately 1.2 million Rotarians in 160 countries, comprising more than 30,000 Rotary Clubs.
The Rotary Club of Waynesboro meets every Tuesday from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Waynesboro Country Club. Each meeting involves a business lunch, providing our members a chance to network with one-another, and is followed by a presentation by a different speaker selected from our community each week.
The Four-Way Test
The Four-Way Test encapsulates Rotary’s high ethical standards. Rotarian Herbert J. Taylor created this statement of business ethics in 1932 upon taking charge of a company that was facing bankruptcy. The test was adopted by Rotary in 1943 and has been translated into more than one hundred languages and published in thousands of ways.
Of the things we think, say, or do:
(1) is it the TRUTH,
(2) is it FAIR to all concerned,
(3) will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS, and
(4) will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?
Whether or not you are a Rotarian, we encourage you to apply the Four-Way Test to all of the things you think, say, or do.
